The Panchachuli Base Camp Trek is one of the most scenic and culturally rich treks in the Kumaon Himalayas of Uttarakhand. Starting from the quaint hill town of Munsiyari, this trail leads you deep into the Johar Valley to the base of the legendary Panchachuli peaks (6,334 m to 6,904 m)—five majestic snow-capped summits that dominate the eastern Kumaon skyline.

This moderate trek follows the Gori Ganga River, passing through ancient trading villages, lush meadows, and rhododendron forests, offering incredible views of Nanda Devi, Api, and the Panchachuli group.

Panchachuli Trek Itinerary

  • Day 1: Kathgodam – Munsiyari (2,290 m) → Scenic drive with views of Panchachuli peaks.
  • Day 2:Munsiyari - Sela / Chillamdhar (1,850 m) → Short drive to Dar, the trailhead. Trek through pine forests to Sela or Chillamdhar campsite.
  • Day 3: Sela - Nagling (2,500 m) → Trek through gorges and alpine pastures.
  • Day 4: Nagling - Duktu Village (3,650 m) → Trek to the picturesque meadow of Duktu, surrounded by snow peaks.
  • Day 5: Duktu - Panchachuli Base Camp (4,260 m) – Morning hike to the magnificent Panchachuli Base Camp, spend time soaking in panoramic views, return to Duktu.
  • Day 6: Duktu - Nagling – Enjoy the awe-inspiring sight of Nanda Devi East & South peaks.
  • Day 7: Nagling to Dar – Drive to Munsiyari → Trek back and drive to Munsiyari.
  • Day 8: Munsiyari - Kathgodam → Martoli – → Drive back with memories of the mighty Panchachuli peaks.
